Applying for ScholarshipsStudents who wish to apply for scholarships to help defray the cost of college have numerous options.  Students can search for scholarships on websites, through a parent's employer, banks and credit unions, and civic clubs and organizations.  There are scholarships available based on merit, need, intended major, community service, and a host of additional criteria.
 
Students have access to approximately 60 local scholarships through the High School Counseling Center.  These scholarships focus on students who live in south central Pennsylvania or a several-county area.  Several scholarships are also earmarked solely for students at Camp Hill High School.To see the complete list, description, amount of scholarship, qualifying factors, and instructions on how to apply, students should log into their Naviance account: http://connection.naviance.com/camphill and go to the Colleges tab.

The student's high school counselor can provide the student with specific details on how to submit the scholarship application and supporting materials.

Finding Last-Minute Scholarships
Please encourage your students to look at these four places to find “Last-Minute Scholarships.”

  1. College's Financial Aid Department - The school’s Financial Aid Office may know about remaining scholarship opportunities.
  2. Student's Employer OR Parent's/Guardian's Employer - If the student or parent is working, even part-time, there may be scholarships available from their employer.
  3. Scholarship Search Engines & Contests - Scholarship search engines and social channels may show late-deadline options and some, like FastWeb.com and the U.S. Department of Labor's CareerOneStop can be filtered by due date. Searches can also be conducted on social channels, using hashtags.
  4. Local Organizations - Organizations in the student's hometown may award scholarships and are usually less competitive than national awards.
